Building Stronger Communities

AMIWI is an organization that brings together the Kinyarwanda Speaking Community and their friends who reside in Greater Milwaukee Wisconsin and surrounding areas. Our mission is to build a thriving, happy, successful, healthy community by bringing together the Kinyarwanda Speaking Community and their friends and providing a vehicle to support one another and implement programs and projects for the betterment of themselves and the community of where they live.

Our Programs

Community Cohension

AMIWI programming engages the community and encourages them to connect with each other and support each other in our adopted homes through events, conversations, and communication channels.

Community Welfare

For newcomers to the US who do not speak English, navigating community resources can feel overwhelming and isolating, as even basic tasks require understanding unfamiliar systems and terminology. This challenge is especially difficult for Kinyarwanda speakers, whose language is rarely included in community navigation materials, creating significant barriers just to access essential services.

Community Integration

We encourage members to participate, integrate and contribute to their new home while sharing their Kinyarwanda culture with the Greater Milwaukee area through language, dances, and milestone celebrations.

We are proud to showcase and celebrate the rich Kinyarwanda culture and build appreciation with the Milwaukee community.
